This guide walks you through the three critical moves every kiosk needs: adding the kiosk experience to the home screen (so it runs like an app), pairing the device with Shopify, and locking the tablet so shoppers stay in the kiosk UI.

1 · Save the kiosk as an app (Add to Home Screen)

Adding the Store Check-In kiosk to the home screen gives you the “app mode” experience—full-screen, single-tasking, and ready for Guided Access or App Pinning.

iOS / iPadOS

  1. Open https://kiosk.storecheckin.com in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share icon (square with an arrow) and choose Add to Home Screen.
  3. Name it “Store Check-In” (or your store name) and tap Add.
  4. Launch the new home-screen shortcut so the kiosk opens full-screen.

Android (Chrome)

  1. Open https://kiosk.storecheckin.com in Chrome.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu and choose Add to Home screen (or Install app on newer OS versions).
  3. Confirm and launch the shortcut so it opens in its own window, locked to the kiosk domain.

2 · Complete the pairing screen

Once the kiosk shortcut is open, follow these pairing-screen steps:

  1. Enter your myshopify.com domain when prompted by the kiosk app.
  2. Select the Shopify Location that matches the device you want to pair.
  3. The kiosk app displays a pairing code—keep this screen visible.
  4. In Shopify Admin, go to Store Check-In → Device Management → Sync New Device, paste the code, and click Authorise.
  5. The screen confirms the device is paired; keep it on this page while you finish the last step.

3 · Lock the tablet into single-app mode

Keeping shoppers inside the kiosk experience prevents accidental navigation away from checkout.

iPad (Guided Access)

  1. Go to Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access and turn it on.
  2. Start the kiosk app, triple-click the side/top button, adjust settings if needed, and tap Start.
  3. Use the same triple-click + passcode to end Guided Access when you’re done.

Android (App Pinning / Screen Pinning)

  1. Go to Settings → Security & privacy → More security settings → App pinning (menu names vary) and enable it.
  2. Open the kiosk app, tap Overview/Recent Apps, tap the app icon, and choose Pin.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to unpin (usually holding Back + Overview).
